Tunis were among the first breeds of sheep we brought to the farm. Known as Red Heads, they have distinctive cinnamon colored head and legs with a creamy fleece. The lambs are all cinnamon colored at birth and their cream colored fleece comes in as they mature. Their fleece is in the fine end of the medium wool category. A lustrous 24 to 30 micron, the moderate crimp in the 4 -6 inch staple creates a soft, lofty yarn. Great for spinning and felting, the fiber takes dye beautifully.
These locks are ready for you to wash and use.
On the Livestock Conservancy list of rare and endangered species, they are part of the Shave ‘Em to Save ‘Em program
